The Junior League of Alexandria has four major fundraisers: the New to You Thrift Shop, A Very Merry Market holiday shopping extravaganza, League of Trucks, Barbie Dance Party, and the sale of their cookbook, Secret Ingredients. Proceeds from League fundraising efforts support the purpose and programs of the League.

​NEW TO YOU

The New to You shop is a thrift shop that is run by 3 employees and volunteers from the Junior League of Alexandria. The shop has been in business since in 1946 and continues to be an asset to both the community and the League. Our storefront is open for normal hours. The donation center is open on Saturdays only for drop off. Please bear with us as we social distance for everyone’s safety.

What We Do!

The Junior League of Alexandria…

• awards $5,000 per year in scholarships to girls in Rapides Parish that excel in volunteer service to their community.
• awards numerous grants annually to different non-profit organizations that work in our focus area which address women and children’s issues. Over $237,000 has been awarded to area non-profits since our grants program began.
• has operated the ‘New to You’ thrift shop since 1945, which is one way for our members to work hands on within our community.
• hosts the annual Kids in the Kitchen event, promoting healthy eating and activities for young people.
• volunteers time and efforts with a variety of community organizations, such as the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Girls on the Run, and the Hope House, through out different times of the year.
• organizes and leads leadership training workshops for its members, we strive to equip each member with the knowledge and confidence they need to go into the community and serve with other organizations and boards.
